Openly

Privacy

Openly lets you open your own content filter for a short, watched window. While that window is open, your phone records its screen and screenshots are sent to a person you nominated. This page explains exactly what that means.

What is collected

Nothing is captured outside a window. Recording only happens while you have started an iOS screen recording yourself. The app cannot start one for you — iOS does not allow it, and that is deliberate.

Who sees it

One person: the accountability contact configured for your phone before you were given a pairing code. When a window closes they receive a report — how long it ran, how it ended, and the screenshots, according to the setting chosen for your device.

Screenshots are also processed automatically to flag likely explicit content. That check is performed by our own systems.

What is kept, and for how long

How it is stored

Screenshots are held on private storage that is not reachable by web address. They are read only by the systems that classify them, attach them to the report, and delete them. Access to the portal is restricted to named accounts.

What is never done

Your filter provider

Opening and closing the filter is done through your filter provider's own system. Openly sends only the instruction to open or close it, and reads whether it is currently on. What that provider stores is governed by their privacy policy, not this one.

Removing the app

Deleting Openly removes your ability to request windows. It does not turn off your filter and it does not delete past reports. To have records removed, contact us below.

Children

Openly is intended for adults who choose it for themselves. It is not directed at children.
